Ask and you shall receive.

Got quite a few requests for this, so here you go! I'm really sorry that I can't explain it well, but I hope this works!

Just wow, man. I think the 'backwards' shading works a hellavu lot better overall than the other way around.

Tried this tutorial out and am ecstatic with the results! I've attempted it the 'normal' way, but I got frustrated when trying to find how the lighting would look if it were real. Taking away is much more simplistic and less hassle-y. Thank you so much for this!

I noticed that if you use smudge in photoshop it's just like the water brush in SAI c:

Hmm, very interesting! I've never done it with a de-saturated colour like that. I may need to give it a go and see how I like it :D

Ooohhh thank you! :'D I've been looking for a way to shade that works for me, the 'normal' way that most artists do it just doesn't sit right with my hand. Maybe this'll work better for me, I've always wondered how exactly you shade anyway. 8O Thanks Sky!

It's not that uncommon to use the shading colour first and then erase it, I saw a rather skilled classmate doing shading the same way :)
First tutorial I saw about this technique though ^^
